Laurence Brown is a researcher in Centre on Dynamics of Ethnicity (CoDE) at the University of Manchester. He is editor of the CoDE / JRF Dynamics of Diversity briefing series (www.ethnicity.ac.uk) and was formerly Academic Director of the Ahmed Iqbal Ullah Race Relations Resource Centre in Manchester Central Library. He has published widely on contemporary and nineteenth century migrations in the Caribbean, Europe and the Pacific.
