Mary Elizabeth King is completing her fifth book on the practice of civil resistance, her interest having been ignited by her experiences working for four years in the U.S. civil rights movement, for the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. She is professor of peace and conflict studies for the UN-affiliated University for Peace; Distinguished Fellow of the Rothermere American Institute, University of Oxford, Britain; and Scholar-in-Residence at American University's School of International Service in Washington, D.C.
