Matt Fish is a PhD student in Anthropology at the University of London. He became interested in the multiple uses and contested meanings of urban space at a young age via an avid interest in skateboarding and exploring abandoned buildings in his home town of Birmingham. He is currently writing about the links between place and subjectivity and how the environments we inhabit shape us, and his research to this end is focused on squatted spaces.
