Mehmet Kurt is a British Academy Newton Advanced Fellow based at Queen Mary University of London and independent documentary filmmaker. He writes on political Islam, the Kurdish issue, civil society and human rights. He is the author of Kurdish Hizbullah in Turkey: Islamism Violence and the State (Pluto 2017).
