Michael Randle

Michael Randle has been active in the peace movement since registering as a conscientious objector to military service in 1952.  In the late 1950s/early 1960s he was Chair of the Direct Action Committee Against Nuclear War, Secretary of the Committee of 100, and a Member of the Council and Executive of War Resisters International. He coordinated the Alternative Defence Committee in the 1980s which examined a nonnuclear defence for Britain, and was for many years a visiting lecturer and research fellow at the Department of Peace Studies at Bradford University.  His publications include Civil Resistance, (Fontana, 1994).
