Sondra Hale is Research Professor and Professor Emerita, Anthropology and Gender Studies, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She is the author of Gender Politics in Sudan: Islamism, Socialism and the State and co-editor Sudan’s Killing Fields: Political Violence and Fragmentation. She is the co-founder and former co-editor of The Journal of Middle East Women’s Studies.
