Swapna Banerjee-Guha is Professor of Development Studies in the School of Social Sciences, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. From 1981 to 2006 she was the Professor of Human Geography at the University of Mumbai. She is the author of six books and over a hundred academic articles. Her book Spatial Dynamics of International Capital is a pioneering work on the space relations of international capital. Most recently she published Accumulation by Dispossession: Transformative Cities in the New Global Order (Sage Publications, 2010). She has held visiting professorships and fellowships in universities and institutes across the world.
