Thanos Maroukis is a research associate at the Department of Social and Policy Sciences, University of Bath, UK. He was a Research Fellow at the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP) in Athens, Greece, between 2007 and 2012 and a Research Fellow at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies of the European University Institute, in Florence, Italy in 2010-2011 and 2015. His books include Migrant Smuggling: Irregular Migration from Asia and Africa to Europe (co-authored with Anna Triandafyllidou), and Migration in 21st century Greece (2010, Kritiki, co-editor, in Greek).
