**Tom Griffin (London,** [**OK**](https://www.opendemocracy.net/ourkingdom)**):** [Wednesday's story in the Sun](http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article2103995.ece?ref=opendemocracy.net) about a 'hit list' of prominent British Jews on an [Islamist web forum](http://ummah.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2989094&ref=opendemocracy.net#post2989094), has received a pretty thorough fisking from the British blogosphere over the past couple of days.

Tim Ireland at [Bloggerheads](http://www.bloggerheads.com/archives/2009/01/glen%5Fjenvey%5Fhas.asp?ref=opendemocracy.net) believes that some of the content highlighted by the Sun was actually posted by Glen Jenvey, the 'anti-terror expert' quoted by the paper. The excellent [Richard Bartholemew ](http://barthsnotes.wordpress.com/2009/01/09/glen-jenvey-richard-tims-and-abuislam/?ref=opendemocracy.net)has more on Jenvey's backgound and notes that he has a track record of putting fake Islamist content on the web.

One aspect of Jenvey's career which hasn't featured much in this week's debate is [his role in Obsession](http://www.obsessionthemovie.com/about%5Finterviews%5FJenvey.php?ref=opendemocracy.net), an ant-Muslim film which has received a [great deal of scrutiny](http://www.ips.org/blog/jimlobe/?p=201&ref=opendemocracy.net) in the US. Reporters [Ali Gharib and Eli Clifton](http://ipsnews.net/news.asp?idnews=43983&ref=opendemocracy.net) have documented the involvement of a number of hardline neoconservative groups in the film's creation.

[Talking Points Memo](http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/09/obsession%5Fdvd%5Fdistributors%5Fwer.php?ref=opendemocracy.net) reports that the Obsession DVD was mailed to thousands of voters in key swing states during the US election. While the film's backers claim to be non-partisan, [Richard Silverstein](http://www.richardsilverstein.com/tikun%5Folam/2008/10/10/obsessions-secret-producer-revealed-republican-jewish-coalition-ties-to-clarion-uncovered/?ref=opendemocracy.net) has uncovered evidence of their links to the Republican Jewish Coalition.

Jenvey's involvement in this exercise is further evidence that the supposed 'anti-terror expert' is in reality an anti-Muslim propagandist. Sadly, much of the British press seems only to willing to be used as a channel by such characters.
