**Tom Griffin (London,** [**OK**](https://www.opendemocracy.net/ourkingdom)**):** The [Calman Commission on Scottish Devolution](http://www.commissiononscottishdevolution.org.uk/contact.php?ref=opendemocracy.net) is set for an excursion south of the border, [The Scotsman](http://news.scotsman.com/latestnews/39We-must-ask--English.4479993.jp?ref=opendemocracy.net) reports:

*Sir Kenneth, who chairs the commission, said yesterday that he wanted to take evidence in England because any major changes to the powers of the Scottish Parliament – particularly in control over taxes – would impact on England.*

*The commission is likely to take at least one evidence session in the north-east of England, but may also travel further south if the demand is there.*

The [Daily Record](http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/comment/newspaper-opinion/2008/09/11/power-talks-86908-20732151/?ref=opendemocracy.net) suggests that "the view down south is sure to add to growing calls north of the Border to give MSPs more responsibility for their budget." That is certainly the view of England's interests taken by the Taxpayers' Alliance in its [report on the Barnett Formula](http://iaindale.blogspot.com/2008/09/barnett-formula-time-for-it-to-go.html?ref=opendemocracy.net) this week.
