**ENDING VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN**

openDemocracy promotes human rights and democracy through dialogue and debate. But a global debate without the female half of humanity is neither global nor democratic. Our coverage of the annual [16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence](https://www.opendemocracy.net/editorial%5Ftags/16%5Fdays) is part of our [50.50 initiative](https://www.opendemocracy.net/5050) to develop openDemocracy as a current affairs forum which is written, read and used equally by women and men.

Our coverage includes the launch of a series of podcasts with women working to end violence across the Arab region, together with articles and podcasts from the UK.
