# How bad for Brown?

**Jon Bright (London,** [**OK**](http://ourkingdom.opendemocracy.net/?ref=opendemocracy.net)**):** It's pretty clear Labour are facing meltdown in the local council polls - it looks like they may even have been beaten into third place (in terms of vote share on the night), by a Liberal Democrat team which has also slid back slightly. The Beeb are saying it's Labour's [worst results since the 60s](http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk%5Fpolitics/7379275.stm?ref=opendemocracy.net), and Political Betting thinks that Harman [may have conceded](http://politicalbetting.com/index.php/archives/2008/05/02/has-harriet-conceded-defeat-in-london/?ref=opendemocracy.net) the mayor race. The Tories have made gains in Labour strongholds in the North West and Southampton. How bad is it for Gordon?
