**Anthony Barnett & Jon Bright**: Here are some OK moments of the past year. By all means add you own in the comments.*Most toe curling moment:* David Cameron urging everyone to give Tony Blair a standing ovation when he walked out of parliament.

*Most disappointing failure:* The police not charging anyone, not least Tony Blair, over loans for peerages

*Most striking picture:* David Abrahams in the front row watching Tony Blair give his farewell speech in his Sedgefield constituency

*Most important book:* Peter Oborne's '[The Triumph of the Political Class](http://www.amazon.co.uk/Triumph-Political-Class-Peter-Oborne/dp/0743295277?ref=opendemocracy.net)' which addresses the overall nature of the ruling political system in Britain today and its corrupt and undemocratic nature

*Most effective campaign:* [No2ID](http://www.no2id.net/index.php?ref=opendemocracy.net) has grown into a significantly influential campaign against the 'database state' and the policies behind it and is well placed to increase its impact

*Most revealing moment on the media torrent:* Jeremy Paxman telling Nick Clegg and Chris Huhne that their debate and by implication all Newsnight questioning is "just a game".

**Guy AC** *Most cringe-inducing cameo:* Blair [congratulates](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w%5FDr1X7UeM8&ref=opendemocracy.net) Bush's dogs on becoming "National Park Rangers" Tells them he's one of them...

*Most dishonest documentary:* The Aaronovitch-BBC whitewash, The Blair Years.

*Most welcome intelligence report:* US's saying Iran stopped nuclear programme in 2003.

*Most witty put-down:* Cable's From Stalin to "Mr Bean". It's gonna stick.

**Ivor Cornish** *Most disenfranchising event:* Scottish elections where more than 140,000 votes were 'spoilt.'

*Most Nauseous* *photo-op:* Brown welcoming Thatcher to 10 Downing St

*Most crass appointment:* Making Blair the Middle East Envoy

**Gareth Young** *Most ‘off message’ but encouraging* \- Shahid Malik, a member of Brown’s Britishness Government, [telling people](http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in%5Farticle%5Fid=504801&in%5Fpage%5Fid=1770&ref=opendemocracy.net) to be proud of being English.
