**David Hayes (London,** [**oD**](http://www.opendemocracy.net/)**):** [This post](http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2008/apr/24/islam.religion?ref=opendemocracy.net) on CiF by Ziauddin Sardar about the [Quilliam Foundation](http://www.quilliamfoundation.org/?ref=opendemocracy.net) after its recent launch is a classic cultural police operation, characteristic of a figure indulged by many as a source of authority and moderation. The barely concealed subtext is a desperate campaign - of which this is only the latest instalment - for political control of the dominant British Muslim narrative (and of territorial rights of access to the British liberal establishment).
