# Rebuilding the News: Demotix & openDemocracy team up

Putting the news back together again has to happen piece by piece, and when openDemocracy and Demotix agreed today on a broad-ranging partnership, two pieces that fit together came together.

[Turi Munthe](http://www.demotix.com/users/turi/profile?ref=opendemocracy.net), founder and CEO of Demotix (and interviewed [here](https://www.opendemocracy.net/article/street-journalists-as-an-answer-to-ailing-journalism) on oD) writes that: "this partnership with OpenDemocracy feels like perfect synergy. On the one hand, oD's razor-sharp, individual textual analysis, and on the other, Demotix' collective, collaborative visual representation of the world. Opposites attract."

I think that's right---Demotix' citizen journalist collective and openDemocracy's open-source analysis and commentary bring new media and new models into a mixture of text and picture that is not just a replacement, but better than what came before.
