Anthony Barnett (London, [OK](http://ourkingdom.opendemocracy.net/2007/05/08/hot-off-press-call-for-new-settlement/?ref=opendemocracy.net)): The entertaining [EU Referendum](http://eureferendum.blogspot.com/2007/08/blogger-round-up%5F11.html?ref=opendemocracy.net) continues its good work reporting on the growing network of calls for a referendum on the new EU Treaty. They are also keeping an eye on the opposition and linking to pro-European Treaty arguments, not least a new [10 Downing Street petition](http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/eureformtreaty/?ref=opendemocracy.net) in its favour,

We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to provide his full support for the European Union ‘Reform Treaty’, and believe that a referendum on the treaty is unnecessary not only because—unlike the former European Constitution—its content merely cleans up existing treaties, but also because a referendum is against the tradition of British parliamentary sovereignty.

Currently the petition has 10 signatures, closing date is 2 January.
