# The Convention gets cracking

**Anthony Barnett (London,** [**OK**](https://www.opendemocracy.net/ourkingdom/)**):** The Modern Liberty Convention was launched on Thursday at a party inspired by Henry Porter and hosted by Vanity Fair. The Observer have just published Henry's [call to arms](http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2009/jan/18/henry-porter-freedom-convention?ref=opendemocracy.net). We have launched a new and original [Convention website](http://www.modernliberty.net/?ref=opendemocracy.net) that leads with videos. The first videos are up - see Helena Kennedy and Peter Oborne.
