**Jon Bright (London,** [**OK**](http://ourkingdom.opendemocracy.net/?ref=opendemocracy.net)**):** Today, as Brown [welcomes Thatcher into Number 10](http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/nickrobinson/?ref=opendemocracy.net), Cameron's conservatives called for a [new socialism](http://ourkingdom.opendemocracy.net/2007/09/13/the-new-socialism/?ref=opendemocracy.net). Brown's been busy [squeezing](http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/09/10/nunions410.xml&page=3&ref=opendemocracy.net) his traditional foes the unions (until the pips squeak) whilst the BBC are [once again lurching to the right](http://iaindale.blogspot.com/2007/09/back-where-she-belongs.html?ref=opendemocracy.net). To cap it all off, a below strength England still managed to make a decent team look average on an apparently [unstoppable march](http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/internationals/6988226.stm?ref=opendemocracy.net) to the European Championships. Anyone care to predict what happens next?
