**Jon Bright (London,** [**OK**](http://ourkingdom.opendemocracy.net/?ref=opendemocracy.net)**):** According to this article in the [Sunday Herald](http://www.sundayherald.com/news/heraldnews/display.var.2086679.0.revealed%5Fthe%5Fleak%5Fthat%5Fproves%5Fbrown%5Fopposes%5Fa%5Fconstitutional%5Fcommission.php?ref=opendemocracy.net), Gordon Brown is refusing to call Wendy Alexander's Scottish Constitutional Commission a commission, so as not to give an "incorrect impression about its status" - adding weight to all those who believe that Brown wants the "working party" (as I think it will now be called) both limited in its scope and controlled by Number 10\. What would the effect be of Alexander's party coming back with only a few desultory extra powers of devolution? Or, perhaps even worse, calling for the [return ](http://ourkingdom.opendemocracy.net/2008/02/17/browns-thoughts-on-the-scottish-constitutional-commission/?ref=opendemocracy.net)of some powers from Holyrood to Westminster?

Hat-tip to [Gareth Young](http://toque.co.uk/blog/?ref=opendemocracy.net).
