The recent anti-Trump movement; and picking up the pieces during Brexit.

Favourite book(s): I don’t have lists of my favourite books, but I’ll say the Unbearable Lightness of Being, Life and Fate and probably something by Marquez.

Favourite film(s): I don’t have lists of my favourite films either, but I’ll go for Goodbye Lenin.

Favourite sport/hobby(s): Cooking, running, writing, and cricket.

Remarks on what I’m hoping to leave this event with:
I’m hoping to gain a perspective that is broader than my own as a UK-based political activist. The context in which I work is riddled with insularity and exceptionalism, and – much though Brexit and the politics around 2017 election have put the UK at the sharp ends both of the crisis of democracy and the alternatives that may lead us out of it – the real answers need to be grounded in something deeper and wider.
