Here are some interesting facts reported by Le Monde Diplomatique's editor Ignacio Ramonet:
- On February the 7th in Paris most of the European governments signed the United Nations against "forced dissapearances", which amongst other things criminalises the usage of secret prisons.
- On the 14th of February, the European Parliament in session in Strasbourg adopted a report accusing those same governments of giving a helping hand to the CIA during clandestine kidnapping operations: citizens would "disappear"and imprisoned in CIA-sanctioned facilities such as Guantanamo. According to the report, CIA owned planes stopped more than 1245 times in European airports, often with "suspects" on boards.
According to the article, Poland and Romania are also accused of building "small Guantanamos" on their territory, facilities which welcome in-transit suspects.
