Tired of the hypocrisy surrounding anti-gay and homophobic policy makers (think: Ted Haggard, who counselled George W. Bush) blogger Bilerico decided the LGBT community had enough. The blog launched a campaign asking for readers to send gossip and tips incriminating "conservative bigots that are backing a constitutional ban on our formalized relationships".
I've wrestled with this idea for a long time. Part of me sees this as "outing" and the whole debate that can be had over that. I'm putting the debate to rest as far as I'm concerned though. By introducing this hateful amendment yet again, these bigots have declared war against my family - and that is an attack on marriage.
So far the campaign was fruitful, and a lot of replies and tips were received. What do you think? Are bloggers killing the patient to kill the disease? An interesting debate on the grassroot "naming and shaming" tactics employed for this campaign is taking place here.
