Camera Action

Published:

by Richard Young

Whatever you think of Stephen Spielberg (fantastic: Jaws, Indy, ET, Empire of the Sun…to drastic over the years, remember Hook? Aaarghhpfff, spit, bluurgh!), he is perhaps embarking on his most important work yet – handing out 250 video cameras to Israeli and Palestinian kids. The idea is to get them to interact and learn about one another's lives through exchanging video diaries across the borders:

The young people will be busy filming instead of throwing firebombs, and they will be able to see the other side’s of life and learn that we are all human beings who want to live in peace

It's yet another example of grass-roots peace activism in the middle east putting politicians to shame following the inspiring examples of Daniel Barenboim and Edward Said's East West Divan Orchestra and the One Voice project amongst others.
