Free Speech?

Published:

Want to know the safest/freest, most dangerous/repressive place to practice journalism? Reporters Sans Frontier today published its annual worldwide press freedom report. The report detailing press/state relationships in 168 countries showed an 'alarming' erosion of press freedom in the US, France and Japan in the last year. The US fell 9 places to 53rd, France fell 5 to 36th and Japan 14 to 51st. The five most repressive states were the same as last year: North Korea, Turkmenistan, Eritrea, Cuba and Myanmar. And Finland, Iceland, Ireland and the Netherlands are the most media-friendly. Check out the map of press freedoms out for an overview.
