Reflections on Israeli society: a roadmap from within

By presenting both sides of an argument, openDemocracy seeks to open up debate, and move away from the usual, entrenched positions. The lecture series "Beyond the Usual Suspects" aims to examine aspects of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict from a variety of perspectives, including regional ones, in order to broaden understanding of the key issues involved.

On Tuesday 12th December, the speaker will be Akiva Eldar. Mr Eldar is currently chief political columnist and editorial writer for the prestigious Israeli national daily Ha'aretz. In May 2006, the Financial Times selected him among the most prominent and influential commentators in the world,"whose comments inspire callers from across the political spectrum".

The talk will take place at 18.00, in the Khalili Lecture Theatre at the School of Oriental and African Studies, SOAS (which is located in Russell Square, London WC1H 0XG).
