Often, this excersize in numbers is confusing and every economic evaluation lack in some means or another. But there is a number that is unescapable: the total size of the US economy. And when looking at that number, the Economist and Wikipedia finds that the US is nowdays the second largest economy in the world.
The EU: 12,865,602 million USD
The US: 11,734,300 million USD
China: 9,412,361 million USD
