Slate has a rather interesting piece on predictive markets. As you probably know openDemocracy is also running its own predictive markets, the difference being, ours don’t involve real money (more’s the pity, I would be $6000 up and so outta-here). Slate surveys these exercises in political prediction, noting their quite excellent capacity to divine the future.
For the record, Hillary Clinton and Rudy Giuliani are trading at the highest prices. But with the obvious and numerous problems their respective candidacies are likely to encounter – I say buy Obama and McCain and then maybe cash out before the primaries, also sell Brownback, Richardson and Clark. Oh yeah, and keep and eye on Gore, be prepared to buy large if he makes the move.
Note: this column ends here as the blogger Tan Copsey is under investigation by the SEC for insider trading (*sigh*).
