Chinese police fire on crowd

Amnesty International is reporting that four people were killed in the village of Dongzhou, in Guangdong Province, when Chinese police fired on a crowd of protesters on Tuesday evening. A dispute over the appropriation of land for a wind power plant has been rumbling for five months and, according the AI report, villagers had gathered to protest the detention of three village representatives when the incident occurred.
