Archie Brown is an Emeritus Professor of Politics at Oxford University and an Emeritus Fellow of St Antony's from 1 October 2005.
His principal research interests are the Gorbachev era, the evolution and dissolution of Communism, the comparative study of political leadership.
Professor Brown is credited by many to be the man who persuaded Thatcher to do business with Mikhail Gorbachev
