Giuseppe Maimone has a PhD in History, Institutions and International Relations of Africa. His research explores colonial and post-colonial history of West Africa, with a focus on the issues of slavery and identities in Mauritania. He is a member of CoSMICA, Centre for Studies on the Contemporary Islamic World and Africa, University of Catania (Italy).
