
Maria Avraamidou holds a PhD in Communication and Internet Studies. Her research interests center around the media/ nationalism nexus and the relationship between social/ media and migration. She has published in academic, peer-reviewed journals and taugh Media and Journalism at the Higher Education. Before taking an academic turn, she worked at UNHCR, grass-roots NGOs for the support of migrant communities and as a professional journalist. Maria, also holds a BA in Law and an MA in Multi-Media Journalism. She is commited in making the time to read literature but fails to find time to watch movies, like she did during less busy times, years ago.
