Matthew Whitley is a writer, anarchist organizer (MACC NYC), and publisher. He is currently a PhD student in Cultural Anthropology at the CUNY Graduate Center and instructor at Lehman College with research focused on alternative economies in the Kurdish Freedom Movement.
His work has appeared in various publications including N+1, Syrian Democratic Times, The Brooklyn Rail, Vanitas, Translit (St. Petersburg), and The New Museum’s New City Reader. His chapbook, "Do You Like the Word Crisis?", was published by Commune Editions in 2019. His writing has also appeared in the exhibition and conference context, including Vertical Reach: Political Violence & Militant Aesthetics organized under Yale’s “Utopia after Utopia” research initiative. He currently co-edits the radical artists’ imprint Cicada Press.
