Mohamed Aden Hassan

Mohamed Aden Hassan is the founder and director of Rako Research and Communication Centre, a Global Research Fellow at the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO), and an editing member of Bildhaan Journal. Mohamed has over 14 years of experience in research, media and business. He holds an MA in Diaspora and Migration Studies and a PhD in Sociology from the University of London. Focusing on youth, diaspora, remittances, development, migration, social and policy related issues, Mohamed has worked as a senior researcher and project leader for the Stanhope Centre for Communication Policy Research and UK's DFID, among others. Acting as a local partner for the Danish Institute for International Studies (DIIS) and PRIO, Mohamed is currently working on two large research projects: Diaspora Humanitarianism in Complex Crises (D-Hum), which explores how Somali diaspora groups mobilise, channel and deliver humanitarian assistance, and AidAccount, which aims to map, document and analyse the moral and social dimensions of aid accountability.
