Nguyen Huu Dong was a Senior Political Affairs Officer at the Department for Political Affairs of the United Nations until his retirement in 2004. Beginning in 1989, he was involved in UN electoral missions all over the world. He was Coordinator for the Electoral Project with UNDP in Mexico from 1998 till 2011. Presently,he is an advisor to the Electoral Court of the Federal Judicial Power of Mexico. He holds degrees from the Université de Lausanne (B.A.), the Université de Paris-Sorbonne (M.A.), and the Université de Paris-V/Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (Ph.D.) and lives in Mexico City and New York. Mr. Nguyen’s contributions to academia include serving as a visiting professor to universities in his native Vietnam, Mexico, Algeria and Thailand, as well as a lecturer at the Universite de Paris X and a visiting fellow at Sussex University.
