Thorhildur Thorleifsdóttir is an Icelandic stage director. She has directed around 80 productions, including drama, opera, musicals, radio plays, films and television for The National Theater, The Icelandic Opera, the City Theater of Reykjavík and many other theaters.
She founded the Women's Party and was a member of Althingi, the Icelandic Parliament, from 1986 to 1991. She is now the Chairman of the Gender Equality council in Iceland. She was one of 25 candidates to be elected to the Constitutional Council and ran for the election as a feminist, the only person of 523 candidates to do so. Thorhildur is a frequent guest in the media as a commentator on political and cultural affairs.
