Wang Hui is a professor in the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at Tsinghua University in Beijing. In 1989, he was involved in the Tiananmen Square Protests and was subsequently exiled to a reeducation camp in Shaanxi province. His critique of government policy has emerged as a leading voice on the Chinese New Left. Wang was named as one of Foreign Policy’s top 100 public intellectuals in 2008. In 2013 he was awarded the Luca Pacioli Award.
