Jo is a peace activist and an eloquent journalist who first visited Iraq in August 2001, and stayed in Baghdad in February-March 2003, in the month before the war and the first twelve days of bombing. She returned in 2004. Her articles, including a haunting first-hand account of the attacks on Fallujah appeared in openDemocracy, as well as ElectronicIraq, ProgressiveTrail.org and her own website, Wildfire. She is still working with Circus2Iraq, which performs and runs workshops for Iraqi children. But she is also studying to become a barrister as she looks after her new baby son, Spike.
