Alessio Cangiano

Dr. Alessio Cangiano is a demographer working at the ESRC Centre on Migration, Policy and Society (COMPAS), University of Oxford. His current research deals with the factors underlying the demand for migrant labour in ageing societies, with a specific focus on the employment of migrants in the provision of care for older people

The social care sector in the UK relies on migrants to look after older people. There is an urgent need to balance the rights and entitlements of two vulnerable groups - the right of migrants to decent employment conditions, and the right of older people to good care services
