Giorgos Christides

Giorgos Christides is a Greek journalist specialising in migration. His work has appeared in international and Greek media outlets, including The Guardian, BBC, NDR/ARD, Al Jazeera, Hyphen, and Solomon. From 2012 to 2023 he was the Greece correspondent for Der Spiegel. In 2024 he was the runner-up for the European Press Prize in the migration category. He was awarded with the Investigative Journalism for Europe (IJ4EU) award in 2022, 2023, and 2024, the Daphne Caruana Galizia Prize for Journalism (2023), the SIGMA Award for Data Journalism (2023), the De Tegel Prize (2022) and the European Parliament Journalism Prize for Print (2009). He is a board member of the Greek Foreign Press Association (FPA) and a doctoral candidate and lecturer at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, focusing on migration and the media.
