Juan Luis Cebrián was born in Madrid in 1944. He has been editor-in-chief of the leading daily newspaper El Pais since 1976. From 1988 to 1996 he was Chairman of the International Press Institute. His books include Red Doll and the essay collection The Press and Main Street.
