Kat Eghdamian

Kat Eghdamian is a graduate student in the Department of International Development, University of Oxford. Her research interests centre on the role of religion in development, with a particular focus on religion in experiences of and responses to conflict and humanitarianism. She is currently undertaking field research on Syrian refugees living in Jordan.

What was the role of religion in the Arab Spring?

The Arab Spring was caused by a multitude of factors (economic, political, social, cultural and religious), but its origins also lay in belief. Not a singular belief, but a collective, multifaceted belief that liberation is not only needed, but also possible.
