Lyndsey Stonebridge is Professor of Modern Literature and History at the University of East Anglia. Her last book was The Judicial Imagination: Writing after Nuremberg. Placeless: Rights, Writing and Refugees is due out next year.

Words of fire

The language of resistance is resourceful, creative and deep. After Grenfell, the words of those affected ring out clearly and truly – showing up the shallow contempt of those by whom they are governed.
