Merry Cross
Merry was born with an extremely rare mobility impairment, but thanks to positive parenting has had a good life and many jobs. She trained as a teacher and educational psychologist, so her work has mostly involved disabled children and safeguarding. She has also been a disability activist since her twenties, and was among the first members of Disabled People Against Cuts, of which she also chaired a local branch for ten years. Now in her seventies, Merry is devastated to witness the rise of the far right and the speed at which disabled people have lost so many of the gains we made in the 1970s.
