Pat Younge is the Co-Founder and MD of content production company, Sugar Films, and between 2010-2014 he was Chief Creative Officer of BBC Television Production. Prior to that he has run American cable network, Travel Channel Media, and worked in news, sport and current affairs for the BBC, ITV and C4.

Why does the BBC see the future of television production as a commercial venture?

The BBC plans to take the bulk of its television programme production out of its public service division to create a separate commercial body, BBC Studios, which would be a wholly owned subsidiary of the BBC Group.
