by Tan Copsey surpervising the very funny openDemocracy staff

This week has been strangely un-amusing.  Perhaps it’s the constant pressure of real-life unfunny political events getting in the way, and the fact that stock-market crash humour is crap.  Or perhaps, as alluded to last week, the cosmic comedy void that is the half-hour news hour has sucked the life and humour from us all.  Still someone tried to blow up Dick Cheney and Steve Bell knew it was good for a laugh.

I also now know where I’m off to for my hols this summer – I like deserts.

Maryann Bird notes Al Gore’s week of comedic kicking following his Oscar win.

Rob Cawson continues the office’s strange fascination with aged former idols (I’m going to be punched for saying that) but questions whether Dylan singing Dr Seuss is genius or blasphemy?

Speaking of blasphemy Aussie comedian John Safran sticks it to me... Damn Atheists.

Jessica Reed is more amazed than amused by the 107 year old blogger.

And finally Kanishk Tharoor has an odd sense of humour, but, unlike Felix Cohen, at least he doesn’t make ‘your mom’ jokes.

Maryam Maruf tries not to explode with laughter about the El Salvadorian inmate...
