If you've been interested in our previous entries about the online phenomenon that is Second Life. On it anyone is free to create his or her own avatar, and some go to great lentgh so as to customize them, wanting their online reflection to be as beautiful, orginal or intriguing as possible. Some users have already set up "avatar fashion" businesses, offering a range of designed e-clothes for customers to buy.
It is now the turn of artists and hacktvisists to take interest in Second Life. Con-artists Eva and Franco Mattes, also known as 0100101110101101.org, use "non-conventional communication tacticts to obtain the largest visibility with the minimal effort" (how postmodern). They recently exposed their new project titled "13 most beautiful avatars", which is a serie of portraits from the website [via Libe Ecrans].
One thought: the ménage à trois between media, artists/users and Second Life seems to work remarkably well. The site benefits enormously from initiatives like 01.org's, as it generates a solid amount of publicity relayed by the media, which shed lights on both Second Life and those who gain money or fame out of it. Everything's perfect in a second-perfect world.
