Tom Griffin (London, The Green Ribbon):Over the past several months here at OurKingdom, myself and Fair Deal have pointed up the potentially crucial role of the DUP in the Commons vote on 42-day detention.
So it has proved, with the DUP's nine MPs giving the Government a majority of precisely nine.
There is little doubt that the DUP sought to make the most of its leverage in the run-up to the vote, something of a sore point with both Iain Dale and Daniel Hannan. At the same time, as Mick Fealty suggests, supporting hardline security measures is not exactly an uncharacteristic position for the DUP to take up.
