Jelena Djordjevic

As a feminist activist (on the left in the photo!) I work on issues around trafficking in women, gender-based violence and sexual minorities in Serbia and Montenegro, and South Eastern Europe. I am one of the co-founders of Anti Trafficking Center - ATC (local NGO) – in Serbia working on combating trafficking in women and girls by focusing on the causes of the problem. My experience includes developing training curriculums on trafficking for institutions and associations, providing education to different target groups, leading awareness raising campaigns, reporting on the violations of human rights of victims of trafficking, and representing the NGO’s work within the National Team for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings. I have also represented the NGO’s work in meetings of the Stability Pact Task Force Working Body for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings. After developing ideas for media research that was conducted by a number of stakeholders internally, I co-edited the Manual for Journalists published in Serbia in 2003 as a tool for journalists on how to write on the issue of trafficking.
 
I am active in the International Women in Black Movement, the V-Day movement for stopping violence against women and also in the Network of Sex Work Projects.

Currently, I work with the Urgent Action Fund for Women’s Human Rights on research exploring the concept of sustaining activism, which seeks to identify practical ways to provide greater support to women’s activism.
