Dear Open Democracy,
Happy Birthday and wish you were here!
So what happened on the way here to this imperfect but exciting and sometimes confusing pluralist democratic world?
After the Arab Spring of 2011 the people of Africa inspired by it continued the revolutions and this led to transformations in Asia and South America and finally the absurd model of humanity that had implanted itself in industrial imperialism with its obsolescent masculine/patriarchal manifestations disintegrated and people variously began to realise their potential, new forms of spirituality developed for example islam renewed itself and freed itself of its dogmatic paganism, women became cleverer and were the centre of learning…..literally the world fell apart. Effectively the world became entranced by the progressive development of ‘xiao kang’ and ‘sufficiency’, ‘enough’, ‘basta’ became the new excess. At that point it was possible for solutions to be found to the problem of humanity’s relationship to the earth and to the air we breathe. We managed to adapt ourselves as a species to using our, and the earth’s, energy more wisely and more beautifully.
