Mazen Kerbaj, 2006 Kerblog 20 bombs in less than one minute on the southern suburbs while i am writing that the war is over
From an email from an openDemocracy friend:
Not too long ago I was at a party in a musician friend's house. He plays improvised music and to celebrate his birthday he organised a concert with other friends, including two Lebanese musicians. It was a great concert and the alma mater was one of the Lebanese musicians, Mazen, who played the trumpet and other instruments. He is also an artist and illustrator, and I was impressed by his drawings.
Ten days later they were back in Beirut and trapped by the war. Since then Mazen has started a blog and he updates it everyday he can. He posts drawings, comments and there is even a "musical" recording of bombs falling. It is a non-political blog: the drawings speak for themselves.
Have a look at the blog it is at least one way to humanize an inhuman war all wars are inhuman. There is no knowing how long he, and others like him, will be able to update their blogs. The electricity supply is irregular. It may even be censored.
